Mr Langlois, I'd be interested in communicating with you about the image of the battleship in your 1898 Revenues Blog. I'm interested where that image came from. Do you know anything about it?
Are you referring to the image that is on the stamps in the blog? If so, these images were engraved by the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing soon after the tax act was passed by the Congress to fund the Spanish-American War. Though the Battleship Maine exploded in Havana harbor, this image is supposedly not that of the Maine.
