ENW printed cancels are more commonly seen sans-serif, and usually dated earlier in the tax period in 1898. Are there other examples out there of this serifed font? Please write to firstname.lastname@example.org if you have one, especially of a different date than on the stamp above.
It has been noted in earlier posts that Elgin cancels appear to have been applied after the stamps were applied to their documents. Yet it is clear that these cancels were not handstamps and were applied by a device. What sort of device was used to produce this cancel?
